12 October 2015, Mogadishu, Somalia -The Forum for Unity and Democracy wishes all Somalis a happy and eventful Flag Day.
Today marks a significant day, as more than 61 years ago those yearning for self-rule put it on themselves to design a national flag as the official symbol of the Somali nation. Since October 12, 1954, the Somali flag has been a symbol of our unity and independence.
The Forum would like to extend our appreciation to Mohamed Awale Liban, who designed our flag and those that were instrumental in the adoption of our flag.
Now, as we are mindful of those that had sacrificed for a democratic, free and prosperous Somalia and of our recent past, let us not derail Somalia’s path to democracy by weakening the institution of Parliament, the bedrock of democracy. The Forum believes that the decision of the Speaker to dismiss the motion was arbitrary and unconstitutional and threatens to undermine the duties and responsibilities assigned to Parliamentarians, as enshrined in our Constitution. We stand with Parliamentarians that are seeking to resolve the motion to impeach the President through proper constitutional channels. That is, through the decision of the Supreme Court. The Forum strongly cautions the Speaker not to take any further unlawful actions that could create tension and paralyze Parliament.
The Forum believes that Parliament is the institution that holds our nation together, by safeguarding the national interest. On this historic day, let us look towards fulfilling the hopes and dreams of those that had fought for a free, democratic, and united Somalia many years ago.
About the FUD: The Forum for Unity and Democracy is the largest coalition of political parties and actors in Somalia committed to the realization of accountable, citizen-driven governance, constitutional reform and the return of decision-making back to the hands of the Somali people.

Waxaanu garab taaganahay oo taageeraynaa xubnaha Baarlamaanka oo doonaya in Mooshinka Madaxweynaha xilka looga qaadayaa uu maro dariiqa saxa ah oo si cad ugu xusan Dastuurkeena. Taasina waa in Maxkamada Sare ay go’aan ka gaarto, siduu qabo Dastuurkeenu. Madashu waxay si adag uga digaynaa inaanu guddoomiyaha qaadin talaabooyinka kale oo sharciga ka baxsan kuwaasoo abuuri kara khilaaf wiiqa baarlamaanka.

Western Intelligence Agencies Oppose the Democratization of Somalia Intelligence Services (NISA) History documents the strong character of the Somali people associated with messy democratic rule that cherishes individual liberty, freedom of expression and opinion, Justice, and private entrepreneurship rather than with autocratic rule. British explorer, Sir Richard Burton wrote in 1856, "the Somalis are fierce race of republicans, constantly changing political loyalties – the Somalis lived in what amounted to a state of chronic, political schizophrenia, verging on of anarchy. Every freeborn man holds equal to his ruler and allows no loyalties or prerogatives to abridge his birthright of liberty." However, Somalis are docile to discipline and obedience if social mediation applied fairly. The appropriate model of government for Somalia is the democratic rule. Full Article
