Somalia:Religious war breaks out in southern Somalia

Heavily clashes between the Islamists hardliners Al-Shabab and supporters of Ahlusuna-Waljama Islamists have erupted in Somalia’s southern town of Bardhere in Gedo region bordering Kenya on Monday, witnesses told Waagacusub Media.
 

Five people two them women have been wounded in the fighting which broke out when Al-Shabab militants raided a mosque where the sufi clerics of Ahlusuna group had been performing the annual Mowlid commemoration of prophet Muhamed peace and bless be upon him.

Reports say that many several number of the local men took the guns and join the fighting against the militants who had been controlling the region since early this year.

The fighting which started this afternoon had an impact on the business activities in the town as residents in the war zone area began to flee their homes.

Local clan elders are trying to stop the war and mediate between the two sides to end the religious conflict.

Both Ahlusunna and Al-Shabab fought in central regions of Somalia losing many fighters mainly from Al-Shabab militants.
