President Obama has endorsed the new Somali government January this year which has spurred greater international support to Somalia. The US government has been steadily increasing its humanitarian and stabilization support to Somalia. The Deputy Prime Minister said, "The endorsement by President Obama provided Somalia with needed political support and Mogadishu is now home for many embassies and international organizations, this is a welcome change. The Somali Diaspora has been returning and there is huge optimism in Somalia”.
The Deputy Prime Minister and the US Assistant Secretary for African Affairs, Ambassador, Linda Thomas-Greenfield discussed wide ranging issues focusing on diplomatic relations of the two states, security, employment, development and the current political situation in Somalia.
