Somaliland Journalists Association (SOLJA) on Sunday apologized to head of the National Union of Somali journalists (NUSOJ) and the Secretery General of Somali Investigative Journalists Association (SOMIJ), whose its name used to tarnish the reputation of these two predominant and well-respected journalists.

Dalsan Radio, a local media published a piece last week, which it said that the SOLJA joined to condemn Dahir Alasow and Omar Faruk for what it called "unholy association".

"A writing, which was said from SOLJA and used to defame Dahir Alasow and Omar Faruk was a " theft and robbery" and no statement came from our side respectively, SOLJA said.

Dalsan Radio site and its writer claimed that  Mr. Alasow's work of journalism was a devastating presentation in terms of Somaliland business clout.

"The laws and regulations of our group in line with article 27 which in 2004, the Parliament ratified was not mentioned to intervene in the Somalia's media affairs. And the statement that the Mr. Alasow is destroying Somaliland business was only limited to its author as no such things as these is no constitutional article which clearly backs  lobbying for business clout," The Deputy Chairman of Solja Keyse Ahmed Digale said.

"SOLJA apologizes to any person who has harmed behalf of our name as we are not ready to attack any individuals or media group which did nothing wrong," it said.

According to SOLJA,  the released statement behalf of its name was not consult with anybody of its members. It said that it stands for the protection and promoting of the quality of the journalists. It also said that it helps to train journalists as well.
