Somalia will only be stronger following Friday night’s attack, His Excellency Prime Minister Abdi Farah Shirdon said today after visiting Hotel Makkah Al-Mukarama and Madina Hospital.
The Prime Minister accompanied by the Minister of Human Development and Public Services, Dr. Maryan Qasim, and Minister of Information, Abdullahi Alimoge Hersi, visited Madina Hospital to speak to those injured in Friday night’s terrorist attack and thank the doctors and medical staff for their hard work treating the injured. The Prime Minister and Ministers also visited the scene of Friday night’s bombing, meeting with the owner and staff of Hotel Makkah Al-Mukarama.
Talking after the visits the Prime Minister, said: "I want to thank the medical staff for their hard work treating and caring for the innocent victims of Friday’s terrorist attack.
"I praise the commitment of staff at Hotel Makkah Al-Mukarama to repair and re-open the hotel as soon as possible. Their commitment demonstrates that Somalis will not be beaten by these senseless killers even in adversity.
"The government assure Somalis that this attack will not derail our commitment to consolidate the dramatic improvements we have made in Mogadishu and across Somalia. Somalis know that this foreign inhumane agenda has no place here, these terrorists will not defeat us but make us even stronger. We – the Somali people and the Somali government - will stand shoulder to shoulder to defeat these killers. ”
