Eyewitnesses said a man who is believed to be a suicide bomber fell out of the Daallo Airlines plane leaving a hole in the fuselage over one of the wings.
The body of the man had been found. The body, which is believed to be Abdisalan Abdullahi Boodhle from Isaaq clan, was torn to pieces by the explosion.
Two Swedish soldiers were among of those on board. They were Swedish officials, who were in Somalia to train Somali National Armies (SNAs) transferred to Mogadishu from their Djibouti camp training.
"The plane has landed safely at Aden Adde International airport after the explosion occurred," The Daallo Airlines officials said, without elaborating further.
Waagacusub Media personalities in Mogadishu, who went there right after the incident where they saw a big hole in which they said it could be either an explosive device that was placed on the place or it was the work of a suicide attacker.
The Somaliland-owned Daallo Airlines is run by Munir Abasiti and there is a widespread speculation that Absiti, who is also a member of the Somaliland Intelligence Agency may his fellow agents planned the incident from Hargeisa. The target, which did not happen as planned is said was being targeted by some Somali officials and Swedish Soldier's on board.
Somaliland agents denied the report that it has participated in the incident and said that the National Intelligence and Security Agency of Somalia (NISA) was plotted against the plane since its Hargeisa-owned jet.
In the past few weeks, tensions between the Somali Federal government and Somaliland administration have escalated after Hargeisa administration threatened to deport Somali nationals in Hargeisa in which Somalia's Director of Immigration General Abdullahi Gafow Mohamud ordered to be halted all flights to Hargeisa from 22-02 2016.
Somaliland's interior Minister Ali waran-ade sent a letter to General Mohamud requesting from him to open an office for Somali passports in Hargeisa.
However, Daallo airlines regarded as too old plane that will likely put at risk the lives of its passengers due to possible technical problems. Some passengers urge to be banned it from operating in Somalia, claiming that they did not get any service such as life jackets, portable oxygen, or even warnings.
