Speaking to VOA-Somalia, Djiboutian president, Isma’il Omar Gele said his country is planning to send one battalion to Somalia in particular in Hiiraan region to continue the fight against Al-qaeda linked group of Al-Shabab and secure the whole region.
President Gele said, "Our forces were assigned to operate sector 4, the largest sector in central Somalia having less troops rather than other African country contributors but our forces gained confidence and warm welcome from local people in the region”.
Djiboutian president, Isma’il Omar Gele said the extra battalion his country sends to Somalia will arrive in Beledweyne city in Hiraan region within the next three weeks and will collectively cooperate with national army of the Somali federal government.
Gele suggested the young men that defect from Al-Shabab militants should get job opportunity because Young men performing suicide attacks are jobless, the resource they have is the youth while saying joint forces will take control of Bula-burte district in Hiiraan region, Al-Shabab’s major strong-hold at the moment.
Djiboutian contingent are part of the African Union Peacekeeping Forces and they are sector 4 task forces in Beledweyne town, they are known as Hiil Walaal as Djaboutian and Somalia are sister countries and the president’s speech comes as joint forces, the national army with Djabaoutains are prepared to take remove the militants from the rest of the region.
