Waagacusub.net - Benadir regional Administration has opened an office in which the local government will provide services of identity documents after an occasion for this issue was held in Shangani district today on Monday.

Mogadishu mayor and governor of Benadir Regional Administration, Mohamud Ahmed Nor Tarsan has opened the occasion for the office of identification papers in Shangani district after yesterday’s event on the new Somali passport that top government officials attended.

Director of the immigration, Gen. Gafow said they offered modern and advanced technology to Benadir Regional Administration in which the region could make all documents of citizens’ identity before the taking the E-passport yesterday.

The new e-passport will be issued by the Department of Immigration in the Ministry of Interior. It will be made available to Somalis on production of birth certificates and national identity documents, which will be issued by local authorities according to a statement.

The statement is said yesterday that the new e-passport will provide a significant boost to
the security of Somalia, as well as that of the international
community."

The move by the local government today is seen very significant as people used to make such documents from Bakaro market or what the governor himself said Abdalla Shideye.
