The Ogadeni Community in Sana'a now numbers approximately six hundred families , of whom 550 are registered with the UNHCR. Around 100 families from the Ogaden live in Al-Kharez Refugee in the South of Yemen, registered with the UN as refugees from Somalia.
But they are struggling to meet the basic needs such as: food, water, medicine and shelter. Many families that I paid a visit told me that they do not eat three times a day and if they get one they ask themselves where their next meal will come from.
Some are in need of proper medical treatment including surgery to be saved their lives.
Most of them are women who have to bring up their families single-handed: their husbands are either in Ethiopian jails or have been killed by government forces.
The media does not speak about their problems even Somali speaking ones. Several times that I spoke with the BBC and VOA Somali Services about the African refugees including Ogadenis were edited out to avoid mentioning the word of "Ogaden" in their interview with me.
It's obvious, they want me to speak their case as Somali refugees rather than Ogadeni war refugees from Ogaden region of Ethiopia.
The pressing question on the minds of many Ogadenis is when will the international community understand that they suffer in silent tears?
