Abdulahi Mohamud Gafow, the head of Somalia’s immigration and naturalization department said they received reports indcating that Sudan became a potential passage for the most of the Somali migrants to Eygpt to cross illegaly to Mediterranean sea heading to Europe.
"It is sarrowfull for everyone to hear that more than 400 people mostly Somalis lost thier lives in the Mediterranean sea. This has remained us the era of the 1991 civil war in Somalia when the influx of the immigration began and this is the return of that situation.” said Mr. Mohamud Gafow.
"We are committed to stop the young people from traveling to Sudan except the diplomatic missions.” Gafow said.
He accused the regional adminstrators in Somalia of failing to stop the immigarion of the youth who risk thier lives in dangerous journeys to get better life.
Mr. Gafow said the move could help reduce the influx of the migrants to Sudan using a path to Egypt and then to endanger thier lives in the sea.
