    Jubaland : A Kismayo Road Construction Takes its Course

(Jubbalandi )-- A road that started working on it in Kismayo early this week will  continue its procedure till its completion before the end of the year 2015 ,Officials told Jubbalandi Media on Tuesday.


The road will connect Somalia's Hormuud Telecom Inc. to the commercial market places and other parts of the city centre linking to (Qaacle) Kaa'le .

Kismayo authorities and Towfiiq Associates are funding  the project that drivers will likely get a little relief from years of congestion. 

Mayor of Kismayo , Ibrahim Timojilic, noted that  empowered, building responsive city through innovative approaches mainly the roads are crucial for ensuring development of the local government. 

Speaking with the local media at the scene , he said I'd like to thank Towfiiq Associates for the role they are playing when it comes to the development at local level and the country at large.

Mr. Timojilic said the government will encourage any citizen that is in or outside of Jubaland for their patriotic participation of the development specially I am appreciated for their generosity of re-building the city road, which have been a scene of conflict due to warlords and extremist groups.


"Jubaland's development that is ongoing at the time being is significant for the nation building since the terrorist attacks declined for the result of the security police and the people's collaborations," the mayor said.

" It's international communities' responsibility to assist off Jubaland administration rebuild the country to gain the hearts and minds of the Somali people that desperately need to see the peace and development after two-decades of civil stripe and Shabaab's brutality," he added 

Another road that connected  Ministry of finance to the main square of Isbartibo Vekio had been completed in Kismayo by the Kismayo authority and Towfiiq Associates.

" The road should be complete in the coming months to cope with twenty-years plus destruction and to serve the needs of our citizens,"  said Mohamud Korane, the Chairperson of the Towfiiq Associates in Kismayo

Kismayo municipality recently launched rubbish cleaning campaign with the help of Jubaland Women's Community in Kismayo.

Despite threats and warning, Somalia held its first ever interregional all-girls basketball tournament which ended on Monday with Banaadir region crowned champions. Hundreds of Somali basketball lovers gathered in the northeastern Somalia town of Garoowe in the Puntland state to watch the finale which saw Banaadir ladies stump the ladies from Hirshabelle state by 66-46. The tournament was a success after the governor of the host region, Omar Abdullahi Osman, downplayed warnings by the Somali Religious Council which said the tournament violates Islamic law, local media Hiiraan reported. "We warn that the women basketball violates the Islamic law, culture and its values, and it is a place where women can be easily corrupted. Women should know that they are susceptible to the enemy of Islam, and that youth in particular is the target for those who want to change your Islamic values," the chairman of the council, Sheikh Bashir Ahmed Salat, was quoted by VOA Somali. The governor however explained that the games offer Somali women a platform to exhibit their talents as it is done in many Islamic countries. Basketball is a popular sport in Somalia and has produced laurels for the country including Farhiya Abdi, a Swedish-born Somali professional WNBA player with the Los Angeles Sparks who is a role model for many Somali girls.
