BREDA - Het kort geding dat de financiële dienstverlener Dahabshiil heeft aangespannen tegen de met de dood bedreigde journalist Dahir Alasow uit Breda dient op 2 november.

Het vindt plaats in de rechtbank aan de Sluissingel in Breda, liet een woordvoerster gisteren weten.

Dahabshiil, een Brits bedrijf dat het versturen van geld faciliteert, eist dat de Bredanaar stopt met schrijven dat de bank de islamitische terreurorganisaties Al Qaeda en Al-Shabaab financiert en aanzet tot moord en marteling. Ook moet Alasow verschillende artikelen rectificeren, vindt het bedrijf.

Alasow schrijft met name voor internetmedia die gericht zijn op mensen uit zijn vaderland Somalië. Het kort geding zou woensdag plaatsvinden, maar werd uitgesteld nadat Alasow met de dood werd bedreigd in een video op YouTube.

Volgens Alasow komt die bedreiging van Al-Shabaab. Om de veiligheid te kunnen garanderen stelde de Bredase rechtbank de zitting uit.

Het is niet voor het eerst dat de bank Alasow voor de rechter sleept. In 2011 kreeg de Bredanaar van de rechtbank in Breda gelijk. Later besloot het gerechtshof in Den Bosch in een andere procedure op basis van Engels recht dat Alasow moest rectificeren.

Over eventuele extra bewaking wil de rechtbank Breda nu nog niets zeggen. Mogelijk komt daar maandag meer duidelijkheid over.

De politie heeft eerder deze week laten weten dat ze de doodsbedreiging tegen Alasow heel serieus neemt.
