NUSOJ sends sincere condolences to the friends and family of Hindiyo Haji Mohamed, the first female journalist killed in Somalia in the past five years and is the sixth journalist murdered in Somalia in this year.
Hindiyo Haji Mohamed, 27, was returning from Somali International University (SIU) at the time of the explosion where she has been studying. She is the widow of another journalist Liban Ali Nur who was murdered on 20 September 2012 in Mogadishu. Hindiyo was a single mother of 7 children. Nur also used to work for SNTV.
