Two days after NUSOJ asked Somali security authorities to take urgent and decisive measures in pursuing those behind murder of Hindiyo Haji Mohamed in order to bring them before justice, senior officials of the National Intelligence and Security Agency (NISA) informed NUSOJ the apprehension of the person who allegedly fixed explosive device in Hindiyo’s vehicle and the masterminds of this operation.
All those arrested, who are believed to be members of Al-Shabaab, confessed their distinctive roles in the assassination conspiracy, according to NISA. Another key female suspect is still on the run. The suspects were arrested on 9th and 10th of December 2015.
"We welcome announcement of the arrests of a suspected murderer of Hindiyo Haji Mohamed and suspected accomplices. Justice must take its course, and the perpetrators of this horrific crime must face the full weight of the law to bring an end to the impunity in this country,” said Omar Faruk Osman, NUSOJ Secretary General.
Hindiyo Haji Mohamed, a journalist for government controlled Radio Mogadishu and Somali National TV, died on 3 December after she sustained serious injuries when an explosive device placed under her vehicle exploded around Mogadishu’s KM4 junction.
Hindiyo Haji Mohamed, 27, was returning from Somali International University (SIU) at the time of the explosion where she has been studying. She is the widow of another journalist Liban Ali Nur who was murdered on 20 September 2012 in Mogadishu.

Open-source aviation assessment of the aircraft visible in the image indicates the helicopter is Swiss-registered, bearing registration HB-ZYI, and identified as a Bell 429 (B429) — a type commonly used for VIP charter and private rental services. The photo appears to have been taken on an airport apron, consistent with charter helicopter operations. While Switzerland is strongly indicated through the aircraft registration prefix HB, the exact airport location cannot be confirmed from the posted image alone. Additionally, claims circulating online suggesting Cirro has entered security "wanted lists" remain unverified and unsupported by official documentation. Full Article
