
Haatuf general manager Mr. Yousuf Abdi Gaboobe confirmed this to the media and told that Haatuf Media network and Somalilandtimes were blocked and can’t be accessed in the country by the users locally.
"It is a war targeted on country’s free press,” Said Yousuf Abdi Gaboobe, the general Manager of Haatuf Media Network.
The blocking of websites following after Police forces in the administration have shut down and told that a court order has suspended the publication of Haatuf newspapers (Haatuf and Somalilandtimes) in the beginning of this month after the institutions were reported to be alleged of insulting government officials.
The chairman strongly denounced Silanyo led administration of attacking media freedom and violation of constitutional rights of journalists. He added the administration has suspended Haatuf newspapers because the paper has started of publishing series critical corruption related reports that alleged Silanyo led administration of mishandling of finances”
Currently the online publications of Haatuf Media Network are completely inaccessible and were blocked by the telecom companies by executing court’s order of proscribing Haatuf websites.
Rights group, political opposition parties and media associations in the country have strongly denounced the suspension order of the court on Haatuf news papaers.
This is the first time in 23 years that internet providers of the country were forced and given such order of blocking websites from the country by a court in Somaliland.
