MOGADISHU / MINNEAPOLIS — Somali rapper Sharmarke Abdinasir Mohamed, widely known as Sharma Boy, is facing renewed scrutiny following allegations that he used threats, blackmail and sustained pressure to obtain thousands of dollars from a Somali-American woman in the United States.

A Waagacusub investigation has reviewed financial records and other material connected to the allegations, while also examining earlier serious incidents involving the artist in Somalia.

At the center of the latest case is Somali-American social-media personality Najma Warsame, known online as Mssworld.

Financial records reviewed by Waagacusub document 12 completed transactions between November 3, 2025 and January 31, 2026, totaling $6,857.27, sent to a recipient identified in the records as "sharmake abdinasir.”

Warsame alleges that the payments were made after she was subjected to threats, blackmail and coercive pressure.

Waagacusub has reviewed the transaction history alongside additional material relating to the circumstances surrounding the payments.

From Burtinle to Garowe

Sharma Boy was born in Burtinle, Somalia, in 1998 and was later raised in Mogadishu, according to published biographical information.

Waagacusub's investigation has also examined evidence concerning an earlier and substantially more serious case in Burtinle.

Material reviewed during the investigation concerns an incident in which Sharma Boy was accused of killing a man. Information obtained by Waagacusub indicates that the matter entered the judicial system before Sharma Boy subsequently left Burtinle for Garowe, the capital of Puntland.

Waagacusub has reviewed material connected to the case and continues to examine the underlying judicial and video records.

Fatal 2021 Crash Near Garowe

Another fatal incident involving Sharma Boy occurred on May 28, 2021, when a vehicle he was driving overturned in the Buurawadal area north of Garowe.

A young woman identified as Siciido Jaamac Mire was killed, while another passenger, Cabdi Naasir Shaalle, was injured.

The incident was widely reported by Somali media at the time.

Police in the Nugaal region detained Sharma Boy and opened an investigation into the crash. The case subsequently progressed beyond his initial detention, with contemporaneous reporting stating that he was questioned by Puntland's Criminal Investigation Department (CID) and transferred to Garowe Central Prison in connection with the fatal accident.

The crash became one of the most serious publicly documented incidents involving the rapper before his relocation abroad.

New Life in the United States

Sharma Boy subsequently moved to the United States in 2022, expanding his music career within the Somali diaspora.

Minnesota became particularly important to his public profile, with Sharma Boy appearing at Somali entertainment events and becoming increasingly visible within the state's large Somali-American community.

But his years in the United States are now also becoming a central part of Waagacusub's investigation.

Relationship With Malyuun Maanka

Waagacusub has examined Sharma Boy's relationship with Malyuun Maanka, with whom he publicly appeared at events in Minnesota.

Publicly available material documents the pair appearing together, including at a Minnesota event in May 2023.

Evidence and information reviewed during the investigation allege that Malyuun experienced physical abuse and other forms of domestic mistreatment during her relationship with Sharma Boy.

Their relationship subsequently ended.

The material relating to Malyuun forms part of Waagacusub's broader examination of Sharma Boy's activities after his arrival in the United States.

Mssworld Payments at Center of Latest Allegations

The latest allegations center on Najma Warsame (Mssworld) and a series of financial payments made between late 2025 and early 2026.

The records reviewed by Waagacusub show 12 completed transactions totaling $6,857.27 over a period of almost three months.

Warsame alleges that Sharma Boy exploited their relationship and used threats, blackmail and sustained pressure to obtain money from her.

The financial records establish that the transactions occurred. Waagacusub has also reviewed additional digital material connected to the allegations and the circumstances surrounding the payments.

The material raises questions that may ultimately require assessment by competent law-enforcement authorities.

Information Submitted to Canadian Authorities

The investigation has now acquired an international dimension.

After Sharma Boy was reported to have travelled from the United States to Canada, information concerning the case was submitted to the Canada Border Services Agency's Border Watch program.

The submission asks Canadian authorities to assess the information supplied and, where appropriate, coordinate with the relevant law-enforcement authorities.

The referral brings the latest allegations to the attention of authorities in a third country, following events spanning Somalia, the United States and Canada.

A Timeline Spanning Three Countries

The material reviewed by Waagacusub presents a timeline extending from Burtinle and Garowe in Puntland, through Sharma Boy's rise in the Somali music industry, the fatal 2021 crash, his relocation to the United States and the latest allegations arising in Minnesota.

Waagacusub continues to review financial records, digital communications, video material and other documentation connected to the investigation.
