London – November 15, 2025 BBC World Service has failed to fully comply with three demands issued by former U.S. President Donald Trump, following allegations that the broadcaster's Panorama program distorted a 2021 speech and damaged his public image. According to Trump's legal team, the three conditions were:
  1. An official apology from the BBC.

  2. The permanent removal of the controversial Panorama episode from all platforms.

  3. A financial compensation for reputational damage.

Sources confirm that BBC World Service accepted and fulfilled the first two demands — issuing a private apology and removing the disputed program — but refused the third, stating that no actual harm was proven.

The broadcaster reportedly argued that since Donald Trump was re-elected President of the United States four years after the 2021 broadcast, the program could not be considered to have caused reputational damage.

Trump’s legal representatives, however, maintain that the BBC’s manipulation of his 2021 address misled millions of viewers and constitutes defamation under international media law.

As of this morning, November 15, 2025, Trump announced his intention to file a $1 billion lawsuit against BBC World Service for "intentional defamation and character assassination.”

In response, the BBC stated briefly:

"The matter will be decided in court.”
