Waagacusub.net- A campaign of arrests and extortion against civilians and College students continued over the last two weeks.
Security forces under the command of Abdurahman Mohamud Turyare,the commander of the National Intelligence and Security Agency of Somalia arrested and extorted dozens of individuals in Mogadishu.
This illegal campaign against the residents of Mogadishu was motivated by Security personnel that angered by months of underpayment or due to lack of salary over the last four months.
" Security forces can be seen every where , nowhere to escape. It is the third time that I was extorted by the Security forces, if you don't give what they want you will end in jail," said a Mogadishu businessman in Maka Al Mukarama that asked not to be named.
A numerous accounts of arrests, extortion and hassle against college students in Hodan and Wardhiigley districts in Banadir provinces was reported as well.
" I was arrested and then extorted by the Security forces, said a college student in Hodan District, who asked not to be named for fear of reprisal.
"They drive their own cars like mafia and stop in front of you before they pull you into their cars," he said.
The government ignored to do something about the illegal activities carried out by the Security Forces.
