Three Ogadeni refugees and asylum seekers on Tuesday were injured in a Saudi-led air-strike in the Yemen capital city of Sana’a.
Ahmed Abdi , An independent bilingual journalist has confirmed to the media on Thursday on phone when he was contacted by the Somali speaking media.
Speaking with Ismail Hussein Farjar, Mr. Abdi said in an interview with VOA Somali Service that Fatumo also known as Safiya Hussein and Hinda Mohamud Abdi suffered minor injuries after their houses rocked by a huge explosion.
Hinda was in the upstairs when their home collapsed and she fell through but her 3-year-old son did not fall through. She was brought her son by her room-mate. Like any other mother, getting her son safe and sound was every thing to her.
But Safiya’s case is little bit different. Their home was not collapsed, however, she sustained a minor injury in the right leg when the window glasses shattered all over the place from the explosion. And luckily, her children were not with her.
Meanwhile, Hukun Abdirahman also known as Jamila has been psychologically traumatized and physically hurt after a cupboard fallen to her.
The Ogadeni journalist said, ” the two women are recovering from their injuries when glasses removed from their body after they received immediate surgical supplies from privately owned clinics in Sana’a, Yemen.
The Ogadeni community in Sana’a numbers approximately 2500, of whom 1850 are registered with the UNHCR. Around 100 families from Ogaden live in Al-Kharaz Refugees in South of Yemen, registered with the UN as refugees from Somalia.
The Ogadeni community have lived in Yemen since 2007. Most of them live in fear and could not manage to get out of Yemen for fear of possibly execution since Ethiopian Security agents established a network of spies in Djibouti, Somaliland and Puntland. Puntland, Somaliland and Djibouti extradite any single Ogadeni that disagrees with the Ethiopian national policy.
Djibouti occasionally extradites Ogadenis since 1980s. Ismail Omar Guelleh of Djibouti extradited hundreds of Ogadenis between January 20, 2011 and May 14, 2014.
Some of those extradited spoke with Ogaden Today Press and told accounts of severe torture inflicted on Ogadenis by the hands of Djibouti National Police Forces.
