The Hague – The Government of the Netherlands has announced a significant increase in emergency humanitarian assistance to Sudan, pledging an additional €10 million to support millions of civilians affected by the ongoing conflict and widespread displacement. The new funding comes on top of previous Dutch humanitarian contributions to Sudan, and it aims to provide urgent relief in areas such as food security, healthcare, clean water, shelter, and protection for vulnerable groups — including women, children, and internally displaced families.

According to Dutch officials, the decision reflects the Netherlands’ continued commitment to global humanitarian responsibility at a time when Sudan is facing one of the most severe crises in its recent history. International organizations, including the United Nations and several humanitarian partners on the ground, have repeatedly warned that the situation is deteriorating rapidly due to violence, famine risks, and the collapse of essential public services.

A spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs stressed that supporting the Sudanese population is a moral obligation:
"Millions of people in Sudan are facing extreme danger and deprivation. The Netherlands stands with them and continues to support life-saving humanitarian operations.”

Humanitarian experts note that the latest donation will help scale up relief operations and ensure that aid agencies are able to reach regions that are most difficult to access because of insecurity.

The crisis in Sudan has triggered one of the world’s largest displacement emergencies, with millions forced to flee their homes both inside the country and across borders. The Dutch government called on the international community to step up support to prevent further loss of life.

With this contribution, the Netherlands reinforces its role as a key humanitarian partner in global emergency response, particularly in regions affected by conflict and severe human suffering.
