Mogadishu, Somalia- Shabelle Media Network says its news organization is not associated with any media Union in the country and abroad.
Shabelle media, which is Somalia’s leading radio and television Network told the International Community that neither its news channels nor its sisterly SKY FM radio link with any media association in Somalia.
"We hereby clarify to the people of Somalia and the World community that Shabelle Media Network and SKY FM station can’t be linked with any media association in Somalia. The Network will be unaccompanied until a unanimous media union is formed,” said a statement released on Saturday.
Shabelle Media’s declaration comes after Somali Media group known as the National Union of Somali Journalists (NUSOJ) and Somali Investigative Journalists Association (SOMIJ) released a joint statement against individuals that claimed to be the legitimate leaders of Somali media groups.
” We are considering to take an appropriate action against individuals involved in the killing of journalists", said on Wednesday’s statement from Somali media group.
Shabelle Media Network urged all independent media outlets working in Somalia to collaborate in a bid to achieve the common challenges.
It reaffirmed that it will continue airing accurate and impartial news and programs across Somalia despite the challenges and oppression.
The Network expressed gratitude and thanked those stood firm the time of hardship- specially the network’s shut down and its workers detention.
