Hundreds of Refugees from Ogaden region celebrated mother's day on Thursday afternoon.

The event,which was organized by the Somali Ogaden Community in Yemen was invited to participate Non-governmental Organizations and UN Refugee Agency’s partners such as International Relief and development or IRD.

Representatives from Somali Ogaden Community in Yemen,(SOCY) Ogaden Youth and Students Union (OYSU) and Ogaden Mother and Child Relief displayed comedy,poems and traditional dancing that are concerning about the role of the mother in the society.


The Somali Ogaden Community chairman,Mr.Luqmaan, spoke at length how important are the mothers when it comes to social,political and economic life . He says, it is an important step toward providing an specific day to honor the Mother’s day.


Some of Ogaden women that spoke about the atrocities committed against Ogaden women in Ogaden region vowed that they will expose to the World and the media more Ogaden women that were gang-raped by the Ethiopian Security Forces.
