A community report circulating among Somali residents in Minnesota has raised allegations suggesting that former Somali Finance Minister Abdirahman Duale Beileh may have indirect links to individuals involved in the "Feeding Our Future" fraud case, one of the largest federal financial investigations in the state's history. The allegations have not been confirmed by U.S. authorities, and no official charges have been filed against Beileh.

The report claims that multiple commercial and residential properties in Minneapolis and St. Paul were purchased between 2019 and 2024, allegedly involving individuals said to be relatives of Beileh, or newly formed companies connected to the transactions. It further suggests that a "silent ownership pattern” may exist behind several of these investments. 

According to the document reviewed by Waagacusub, community discussions point out several properties including the "Fort Road Medical Building” in St. Paul, which was associated with a recently established entity, and a commercial building at 2300 University Avenue in Minneapolis purchased reportedly for more than $2 million. 

Some members of the Minnesota Somali community speculate that these investments could overlap with individuals previously investigated in the Feeding Our Future scandal. However, these remain unverified community allegations, and not formal legal conclusions. 

The document also refers to a hotel project in Hargeisa, Somaliland – "Hotel Al-Jabal” – which Beileh and his wife were publicly acknowledged as owners during an opening ceremony. The report raises questions as to whether some of the investment funds may have originated from unidentified sources and whether they should be reviewed under U.S. financial laws related to foreign investment, taxation, or anti-money laundering. 

Additionally, public videos widely shared online show Beileh mentioning that he owns properties in several countries including Somalia, Somaliland, Ivory Coast, Djibouti, Kenya and the United States. Community figures argue that such declarations require clarification under U.S. disclosure requirements for U.S.-based individuals or legal permanent residents. 

The report urges investigators to examine bank transfers, business filings, beneficial ownership structures, and property records, alongside possible connections to individuals already indicted in the Feeding Our Future investigation. It lists concerns related to cash purchases, rapidly acquired real estate, and the use of relatives’ names in business registration. 

At this time, U.S. federal authorities have not issued any formal complaint, indictment, or public statement linking Abdirahman Duale Beileh to the fraud scheme, and the allegations remain unverified. Waagacusub will continue to monitor developments and any future disclosures by investigators.
