Press Release for immediate release September 29, 2014 Somalia: Ministry of Agriculture vowed to expand farming coverage The Somali Media foe Environment, Science, Health and Agriculture
(SOMESHA) started to enlarge its connection to the concerned
ministries like the ministry of environment, agriculture and health of
Somalia and the semi autonomous regions across the nation although
concerted efforts are required in order to obtain adequate information
regarding the national agric, environ and public health issues in a
transparent manner.

The Secretary General of SOMESHA H.E. Mr. Daud Abdi Daud along with
other two SOMESHA officers Mr. Mohamed Ahmed Aden and Nur Osmail
Sheikh met Somalia's minister of agriculture H. E. Abdi Ahmed Mohamed
Bafo who also heads Somalia droughts salvation tusk force and
discussed the current state of Somalia agricultural situation, food
security, river floods and climate change issues.

"There is no time to lose by getting "Climate Diplomacy Forum" and
will be a historic milestone and those most responsible for the
ministries of health, environment and agriculture must adhere to their
legal and moral responsibilities for reducing and tackling climate
change impacts. Yet, even with urgent action, the world will
increasingly experience substantial loss and damage"Said Mr. Daud Abdi
Daud

SOMESHA Recommendations:

1. Agriculture is critical for Somalia; Somalia as a continent needs
to ensure that agriculture is included in the 2015 millennium
development goals outcome of the
nation.
2. Requests the United Nations Economic Commission for Africa (UNECA),
AMCEN, FAO, AUC and the UNDP-Africa Adaptation Prograame to strengthen
their coordination,
mobilization and harmonization role in Somalia among the high level decision
making institutions/organisations for a common position on Agriculture
and Climate Change.

SOMESHHA and the ministry of Agriculture agreed to work together and
build a national based collaboration as the minister also pledged to
develop the media reporting hub by the agricultural and development
issues and described that role very imperative one with a lot of
tangible outcomes including enhancing knowledge and understanding.
