We commend the international community’s respect for the sovereignty of the Somali institutions, especially its express acknowledgment that the Somali parliament is mature enough to resolve political disputes responsibly.
We are mindful of the fact that the country is at a crossroads politically, and that a certain degree of stability of institutions is required. Towards that goal, we are fully committed to work and cooperate with the Executive branch of the government on the implementation and execution of all the legislative agenda relevant to Vision 2016.
We reiterate our commitment to UN Resolution 2232 and also affirm our undivided support for free and fair election in 2016 as directed under Vision 2016 and the New Deal document.
We promise to resolve this political issue responsibly and within reasonably speedy time frame.
We strongly remind the Office of the President to refrain from pressuring the signatories of the motion as this might create a perception of obstruction of justice and witness tampering. We remind the Somali public and the international community that under the Rules of Procedure of parliament, members who sign a motion have the right to change their mind, but only during the vote on the motion in the House of the people.
