His work has already strengthened Somalia’s image abroad. Under his leadership, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs has shown improved coordination, stronger messaging, and renewed engagement with international partners. These achievements are not accidental — they reflect the discipline and strategic mindset of a diplomat who understands the world beyond Somalia’s internal political theatre.

It is my strong view that President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud should not overlook Minister Dhaay. Somalia needs to elevate, not sideline, young leaders who bring credibility to the country. In an era where nations compete fiercely for influence, investment, and security guarantees, Somalia cannot afford to lose the few diplomats who are capable of navigating global politics with skill and dignity.

• Free from the old political rivalries that have held the country back

For Somalia to move forward, it must empower figures like Abdisalam Dhaay — leaders who can articulate Somalia’s interests on the international stage and build the kind of partnerships that directly benefit the Somali people.

The country does not need more political drama, recycled elites, or narrow clan calculations. What it needs is competence, vision, and youthful diplomatic energy — the very qualities Minister Dhaay embodies.

If Somalia genuinely seeks progress, diplomats like Abdisalam Dhaay should not only be protected, but supported and replicated across government institutions.
